We at Golden Island offer the following different massage therapy services to choose from: Shiatsu, Swedish, deep tissue, couple massages, 4 handed massage.
Shiatsu – from a Japanese word meaning ‘finger pressure’. This therapy involves a lot of gentle stretching and manipulation techniques to help stimulate the movement of energy and to relax the muscles.
Swedish – developed in the 1700’s by Per Henrik Ling. Massage involves specifically techniques designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart.
Deep tissue – This technique is used to release chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles not with the grain.
